Ciara’s Butterfly Bash
Saturday, March 22, 2014
Hyatt Regency Greenwich, CT
Ciara’s Butterfly Bash, A Benefit for Dravet Syndrome Foundation is our annual signature event where we raise funds for research while honoring an individual or group of professionals who have gone above and beyond in the field of Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies.
This year we are pleased to honor Scott Baraban, PhD. Dr. Baraban directs the Epilepsy Research Laboratory in Neurological Surgery and is a Faculty Member of Graduate Programs in Neuroscience and Developmental & Stem Cell Biology. He serves as Chair of NIH NSD-C study section, on the editorial board of Epilepsy Currents and Experimental Neurology, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. His recent work on developing an interneuron-based cell therapy for epilepsy, and drug discovery in a zebrafish model of DS has been featured on FoxNews.com and the San Francisco Chronicle. His research is funded by federal and private sources, and he has received several research honors, including the Basil O’Connor Scholar Research award, Klingenstein Fellowship in Neuroscience and NIH EUREKA award.
The Spirit of Hope Award has been presented annually to volunteers whose dedication through service to DSF is truly outstanding and inspiring. This year, we are honoring Athina Loveland of Athina Loveland Photography and The Carey Family. Athina has donated her photography services for the last six years at the Butterfly Bash as well as numerous other DSF events. The Carey Family hosts an annual event in honor of their daughter Alexis and has helped raise well over $70,000 for DSF.
