Genevieve’s grandfather, Paul, is a member of The Sapphire Bullets of Love Featuring the Bonaventure Horns, a 12 piece band in Savannah, GA that started over 25 years ago. The band plays about 4 “public” events a year and many private events as well. The band is like a family…a ‘guys club’ if you will, even though their Baritone Sax player is female!
Paul wanted to do something special for his daughter Emily, his son-in-law Marcus, his grandson Aiden and, of course, the wonderful Genevieve! Even though Genevieve currently lives in Ft. Collins, CO and Paul is in Savannah, GA, she has her “Papa” wrapped around her little finger. The band has a history of drawing a good crowd at the local Alee Shrine Temple, where they play a couple of times a year so Paul decided that would be a great place for a benefit. He could not believe the amount of support he received. He was on “Mid Morning Live”, a morning talk show on their local CBS affiliate station WTOC, he was interviewed on a few radio stations and the event was mentioned repeatedly in the Savannah Morning News.
A personal high point of the whole event came when Paul found a family in Savannah who has a son with Dravet syndrome. It turns out that Paul knew his grandmother through business and connected the boy’s mother with Emily – expanding their support group more. Thanks to Paul and The Sapphire Bullets of Love for all of their work in spreading the word about Dravet syndrome! You can view all the photos from the event here
