Mirai-Josiah is 5 years old and was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome at the age of 1 year and 9 months. Although, they suspected he had Dravet syndrome at an earlier age. In May of 2013 Mirai had a seizure and after the seizure he suffered severe brain damage which left him blind and unable to move his arms and legs.
On April 13th 2014, his mother organized a charity concert to help raise awareness about Dravet syndrome and also to raise money to help cover Mirai-Josiah’s therapy costs which are not covered by insurance. They believe strongly that a cure has to be found for Dravet Syndrome, so during the concert they did a charity raffle with proceeds of the raffle going to The Dravet Syndrome Foundation and The National Epilepsy Center in Shizuoka Japan. DSF thanks the family for raising $1200 for its programs and for doing such a great job of raising awareness as well!!!
